El is currently enjoying the release of his newest album, touring, holding autograph sessions, and is making TV appearances and is planning movie appearances. El makes an appearance in the movie "Jumping The Broom", performing the song "How Can You Love Me?" The movie release date was May 6, 2011. He was also on The Wendy Williams Show on June 20 to performing his song, "When I See You".  

 

El's performance at the KBLX Stone Soul concert on May 29th was AWESOME! (Click on the "KBLX  5/29/11 Concert Review" link on the Articles page to read a review for this and other concerts.) His Summer shows included The City of Lights Jazz Festival in Las Vegas, Stone Soul Concert in California, Essence Music Festival in Louisiana, Macys Music Festival in Ohio and other locations. On July 30th, El signed autographs at the Macy’s Fountain Place Store in downtown Cincinnati.

 

 

El's album, "Second Chance" was nominated for  "Major Label Album of the Year" for the 2011 Soultracks Readers' Choice Awards in December 2011. His album was also nominated for a 2012 Grammy award in the "Best R&B Album" category. The Grammy Awards aired on CBS on February 12, 2012.

 

Look for El on the 'Superstars of Soul' tour and his 'Second Chance' tour, which includes a show at the Detroit Opera House in Michigan & Craneway Pavilion in California. El, Mama DeBarge, Bunny, Tommy, Randy, Chico and Andrew also performed a gospel concert in Pasadena on Christmas Day. El was expected to open for New Edition during a few of their reunion shows in February 2012. However, his appearances were cancelled following a decision for New Edition's "spin-off"  acts (BBD, Ralph Tresvant, Bobby Brown) to open instead.  For details on El's Second Chance Tour and other shows, click here to visit the DeBarge Family Updates page.

 

El had a new management team for 2012...Hardin Fultcher, a business owner, concert promoter and entertainment manager with over 30 years' experience, who has worked with El and other DeBarge Family members in the past, and Marquez Gaines, a concert promoter with an impressive track record. However, on January 26, Marquez Gaines resigned as manager, but may continue booking shows.

 

El was on 102.3 KJLH Radio on January 31 to talk about his February 3, 2012 appearance at the Conga Room for a DeBarge tribute. El and Chico were special guest performers at the unplugged concert tribute to the DeBarge Family on February 3rd. El also attended the 54th annual Grammy Awards on February 12, 2012.
